How many times have you heard people talk about the benefits of starting your own website for making money online and turning it into a profitable business? If you’re like most people, the answer is probably never.
It’s unfortunate, but the truth is that many people don’t know how to create, maintain and grow an online business – no matter how great the concept or profit potential might be. Fortunately, though, there are plenty of things you can do to make your blog profitable – even if you have no idea where to start.
1. Become an Affiliate Marketer
An affiliate marketer doesn’t have his or her own product, but promotes other people’s products and services in return for a commission. It is one of the most popular ways to make money online. The best part? You don’t need your own product – you can promote someone else’s product!

Affiliate Networking Websites
If you are wanting to make money blogging online, you can do so in a variety of ways. Affiliate marketing is one of them. There are many affiliate networks out there where you can earn commissions by promoting other people’s’ products and websites.
These affiliate networks pay either on a per click or on a per sale basis depending on which network you are using. It is important that if you join an affiliate network, that you read their terms and conditions thoroughly as they will outline what they expect from affiliates who promote their products.
If your content has a link back to one of these affiliate networks and it generates traffic then it may result in them paying you commission as well. For example, Clickbank, Warrior Plus, JvZoo, CJ.com, Digistore24 and shareasale etc., are few important sites for earning affiliate commissions.
2. Sell Products or Services on your website
Offer a free e-book or other resource in exchange for an email address. Once you have your contact information, you can continue to sell your products and services. Many people use e-books as low-cost lead magnets that they can give away in exchange for an email address.
You could write a book on how to create food blogs or how to make money blogging and then sell it on your website or at places like Amazon, where you can also learn how to set up an account and take payments for electronic books.
3. Start A Membership Site
This is one of my personal favorites. Membership sites are regular blogs with a single key difference: You can charge access for people to see your content. It’s a great way to offer additional value and services in exchange for monthly recurring income.
Plus, membership sites have enjoyed three huge advantages over their free counterparts: They didn’t have search engine penalties (unlike free blogs), they looked just as great on mobile devices as they did on computers (unlike free blogs), and they could sell products or information.
For all these reasons, membership sites have been growing by leaps and bounds over the past few years. According to many experts, it’s going be around for quite some time still. So what does that mean for you?
4. Build An Email List
As a blogger, you can easily build an email list that works for you. Readers come back to sites based on how much value they are getting and your email list is going to be one of those most valuable assets. When you have an email list, it allows you direct communication with your audience and also offers a way for them to subscribe or unsubscribe at their own free will.
Building an email list is not hard or expensive; in fact, I am constantly amazed by how many bloggers don’t have even a simple sign up form on their site – how are they expecting traffic without even offering themselves as a resource?
5. Use Ads To Make Money From Your Blog
To make money from your blog you need traffic and lots of it. Why? Simple, for every 100 visitors you have about 1% of them will actually click on an ad if it is positioned in a good area.
The actual percentage varies with different niches but should never be below 0.5%. This means you will have to generate thousands of unique visitors each month just so that you can get a decent amount of money.
6. Ask For Donations
While crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo are great, not every business has a product or a need that lends itself well to fundraising. If you have a service-based business (consulting, coaching, design, coding) and are looking for ways to generate leads outside of your personal network, consider accepting donations in exchange for goods or services.
Donations from supporters will give your business added exposure and show potential clients your commitment. This strategy can be more effective than simply offering discounts on goods for sale, since people are less likely to expect compensation in return if they’re donating as opposed to buying.
Make sure you choose a platform that facilitates donations from clients all over the world by using an option like PayPal (more on that below).
7. Set Up An Amazon Associate Website
You can make money selling things on Amazon without a website of your own, but starting a website will allow you to reach more customers. Read our full guide for how to set up an Amazon Associate site here.
If you already have an Amazon affiliate site and don’t mind adding a bit of code, WordPress plugin Affiliate Link Magic can easily create referral links that track an affiliate ID with every link you share, so it’s easy for readers to earn a small commission on their purchases.
(This is exactly how I pay for much of my rent each month!) Affiliate Link Magic is also great because it includes tools like lost sales detection which can help you identify links that may be hurting your earnings.
8. Offer Your Time/Skills For Cash Through Freelancing Sites
If you have a knack for writing, why not write for one of many freelance sites? Freelancing is a great way to make money online. Plus, it’s flexible enough that you can do it at your own schedule. You never know what jobs will be available so it’s good to keep an eye out on these sites when looking for ways to earn extra income.
9. Generate Income Through Google Adsense
Google Adsense is an excellent way to make money online through your content. Essentially, you place small ads on your site, and when a visitor clicks on that ad, you earn a small amount of money.
You’ll have to have a website with high-quality content (though it doesn’t need to be overly impressive). And it helps if your website has high traffic—the more visitors you have, and/or the more time people spend on your site, the higher-paying ads Google will give you.
Just think: When someone visits one of my low-traffic websites after typing in something like best ways to make money online into Google or Bing search engines, I want them sticking around for longer than 2 seconds.
Conclusion:
I have highlighted some of the important topics for generating online income with the help of blogging. Under the pandemic situation, it is suggested that every one should start Blogging as a part time or Full time income source. Then, you will become an Online Entrepreneur.
